Now I have a new reason to love my bank. Here I am, less than an week before I leave for my next adventure in Thailand, tying up my loose ends, including setting my travel alerts on my credit cards and bank card. When I got to Schwab.com and clicked into the Set Your Travel Alert page, they provided 3 tips every traveler should consider prior to travel, and #1 on the list was: check your expiration date to be sure your card will not expire while you are away. Hmmm...Good point, I thought. So I checked my card, and as luck would have it, it expired in March, half way through my trip.
Of course I went into panic mode. I called customer service and explained my dilemma, and also explained that I was not even home, I was staying at a friends place until I left for my trip. My representative jumped right into action, and after some scrambling, faxing, and holding I was assured that they could replace my card and overnight it via Fedex to my friends home. Crisis averted, and as of about an hour ago, my new card is safely in hand, 3 days before my flight abroad.
So, lesson learned, add this to your travel to do's: as soon as you plan a trip, check the credit/bank cards you plan on bringing and make sure they do not expire while you are away. The sooner you catch something like this the better.
Thanks again, Charles Schwab.
