New Apartment

After 3 weeks in my cozy bungalow I have been forced to find new accommodation. Why, you ask.... because my landlady is freaking out of her mind!  First she pulled out the angry Thai woman routine because she didn't like where I had my hammock tied. Fine. I can handle that.  The straw that broke the camels back was only a few days later when she reamed me in the street for having a friend from Bangkok stay with me for 3 days. I tried to talk to her about it but then she started yelling about men coming to my room. Say what! I've had a male friend of mine over to hang out a few times, but thats it. She made it sound like I was bringing home a different guy every night. Not that it would be any of her business if I was. Trust me, I wish I had a sex life to speak of, but sadly, no.  I had no idea she was keeping such a close eye on me, but apparently, according to her she was just concerned for my safety. Right!
She ended up telling me later, when I turned in my key to move out, that she was upset because she once had a tenant who had their diving gear stolen and they blamed the Burmese workers at the resort.  The incident was logged with the police and videos revealed that it was actually friends that had visited the persons bungalow that stole the gear.  So now she doesn't like anyone having visitors.  Fine. That does suck, I admit, but if she would have told me that from the beginning I never would have rented from her. Because if I am paying rent I want to be able to have friends over without the fear of being screamed at.  Which is another thing I brought up to her.  I told her if she had talked to me from the beginning instead of being crazy we wouldn't have had a problem.  She seriously needs to work on her people skills.
Anyway, I didn't need someone yelling at me every other day like I am 5 years old. When the crazy bitch gave me an out and told me she was not sure if she wanted to rent to me again next month I said, you won't have to worry about that, I'll be out of here today....and I was. It took me about 2 hours of running around, wheeling and dealing, but I found a place for a little bit more then I was paying before, but also closer to the resort I dive at and literally right on the beach. It has a bit less bungalow charm, but still a lot of space. This place is 12000 THB or about $370 for the month, and I couldn't be happier with it.
I was talking to some of my friends about the incident later and most of them seem to know about the crazy lady from Navy House. I wish I would have talked to them sooner. No matter though, now I am in a much better place right on the beach and I get to watch Koh Tao's famous sunsets right from my backyard.  Life could not be sweeter.
