My first trip I took with a new friend from NYC oddly enough, the next time was near the end of my trip with a couple of Australian girls from the hostel. I really loved everyone I met at Hostel Quattro Canti. It was such a friendly and welcoming place to spend my time in Sicily.
Mondello Beach is a a relatively small beach near Palermo. It takes about 20 minutes by bus to reach it from the city center, but a note for anyone who is planning a trip, the busses are horrible, so plan at least an hour to get there and another hour or more to get back. Both times I went to this beach we were waiting for the bus for at least 45 minutes both there and back. With that said however, this beach is totally worth it! The ocean changes about 4 brilliant blue colors as it stretches out into the distance, and the white sand, thats right I said sand, not stones, is heavenly. It can get a bit crowded in the public section of the beach, especially on the weekends, but for only 5€ you can rent a chair and umbrella in the private section, which takes up most of the beach space anyway.
